Career Exploration
Our career coaches help students and adults explore career paths, build professional networks, and take action steps. The process differs depending on the individual, but can be broken into three phases.
Exploration: Identify strengths & interests through discussion and self-reflection, brainstorm areas of interest, connect with people in potential careers.
Engagement: Create a professional narrative in a targeted resume & LinkedIn profile, identify internships/jobs, develop a professional network.
Execution: Identify and outreach to potential employers/programs, compose cover letters & applications, self-advocate in salary negotiations.

Identifying a career path — or making a career change — is both exciting and daunting. What am I passionate about? What careers or roles match my strengths & interests? How do I get there? Who can I talk to? What courses, internships, or relationships should I cultivate? Our career coaching services can support you at any stage of your life.

For students considering potential careers for the first time, our coaches will keep conversations exploratory, focused on considering a student’s academic preferences, personal interests, and values. From there, they will discuss possible college majors in areas of interest.
For students with a specific career in mind — business, medicine, education for example — our coaches will get more granular, introducing possible avenues, talking about various specializations, and even connecting students with people in the industry.

Many college students need a level of individualized guidance that cannot be obtained through their career development office. Our coaches make career preparation an intentional part of the college experience so that it can guide students’ choices as they move through their undergraduate years. We support students who are unsure about what career to pursue, who need professional guidance to achieve their established goals, and who had a sense of what they wanted, tried it, and want to make a shift.
