Gabriela DeRobles

ACADEMIC INSTRUCTOR
APPLICATION COACH FOR COLLEGE STUDENTS
SUPPORT & DEVELOPMENT COACH FOR COLLEGE STUDENTS

Gaby is a Barnard College professor who brings over a decade of university-level teaching and mentorship experience to her work with AH&A families. At Barnard, she teaches Spanish and supports students in building confidence, developing their voice, and connecting their learning to the world around them.

As a first-generation college graduate and daughter of Mexican immigrants, Gaby understands firsthand the critical importance of using the college years strategically. In her College Support & Development work, she helps students build a resume and academic identity that allows them to graduate with a compelling professional story. Gaby is comfortable supporting students with high ambitions as well as those who need support adjusting to college life. In every case, she meets students where they are, providing structure, building confidence, and offering targeted advice.

When working with college students on applications, Gaby has a particular gift for the essay: drawing out authentic stories, helping students articulate who they are, and shaping their voice into writing that is both personal and purposeful. She brings the same close-reading and thoughtful feedback she uses in the college classroom to every draft she works through with a student.

Gaby also offers Spanish tutoring for students at every level of proficiency. Whether mastering verb tenses or exploring Spanish literature, she engages students by making language learning feel practical and relevant to their lives.

Outside of teaching and coaching, Gaby enjoys staying active, traveling, and continuing her own language-learning journey.
